Ocean Shore Hardware encourages our customers to bring in reusable bags when they shop with us. When you come in to shop, bring your own bag and we will give you a wooden nickel. If you bring two bags, we'll give you two wooden nickels.

The wooden nickels can then be deposited in labelled cans on your way out of the store. Customers can donate to any of the 6 Cabrillo Unified School District (CUSD) schools, or to the La Honda-Pescadero School District. Funds for the CUSD schools will be directed donations sent to Cabrillo Education Foundation. Funds for La Honda-Pescadero schools will be disbursed directly to the school district. We will disburse funds twice a year.

This is an on-going program for Ocean Shore Hardware and our goal is to get our customers in the habit of re-using bags.

We started the program in December 2007, and through the end of February 2008, when a customer buys a reusable ACE bag they will get an additional wooden nickel.

We think of it as a "two-fer": Our customers are helping to save the planet, and helping coastside public schools at the same time.
